Q: could you tell me something about the job profile of a brand manager and how to go about it? - Sachi AgarwalA: In a nutshell a brand manager can be viewed as the CEO if the brand was to be a company. A brand manager owns all aspects of a brand including the product, positioning, promotion and pricing of a brand. This includes all advertising aspects (including mass media, promotions, ATL and BTL) which impact the perception and image of the brand. This is all done with the view of increasing the sales of the brand and gaining market share. Knowledge of the competition
Q: I am diploma holder in hotel management from indian institute of science and management, working for last eight years.I naver worked for a five star hotel, This year I have taken adimission in MBA(correspondance) from Symbiosys pune,After doing my MBA wether I will get job in five star hotel? In MBA which specialization should I do? - sourav ghoshA: Your horizons after an MBA course could expand much beyond the hotel business. However if that is what you want to stick you could look at finance and sales roles in various hotels. Your ability to get a job with a 5 star hotel would depend on your ability to perform in the interview and your current credentials. The hospitality market is booming. You have not mentioned your current role and past experience (within the hotel industry) and hence I will not be able to comment too much on the field you would like to choose. However you may want to focus on either finance or sales as these are evergreen fields in most industries.
Q: sir, i am bcom grad from mum.uni. having 2 years exp in sales , i amk good at maths and analysis, i have a sound knowledge of stock markets,i found myself stagnant in sales and want to move to investment management , and i know without any further studies no-one will look at me. during this course i have come across this cfa course from icfai which dealsa into details of investments and capital market analysis, going by market condition and scenario, there is a great scope for cfa's . so can i have a wise word from u about my thought, the university chossen, and the course and field.regards:hemant - hemant jainA: Hemant – Investment management is a promising field and the CFA is a good course. You could also look at blending your sales experience and this course to become an investment consultant where you could be advising people on various investment options. There is a great career for the same with most banks, mutual fund organizations and also distribution organizations like India Bulls, India Infoline, Eidelweiss, Religare etc. which specialize in the same. ICFAI is a good institution with a good reputation.
Q: hello, I am working as payroll specialist for an mnc and is currently doing my ca pe2, also, i would like to do my mba in finance from icfai in correspondence. however my friends said that an mba done in correspondence has no value even if added on your cv, and it doesnt matter...it is true that doing mba in correspondence is not worthwhile, i cannot opt for regular mba as i am currently working. please advise me.Thank you - sreejaA: Education provides one with 2 things. CV value and learning and knowledge and while both are important the 2nd is more important. It is true that with the proliferation of MBA schools today (much like Engineering schools some years ago) recruiters have reduced the weightage to a part time, correspondence MBA course and a full time course done from a reputed college carries more weight in an interview situation. However if you wish to pursue the course to improve your knowledge and skills you can get ahead by application of that knowledge in your current area of work and current organization. There are however plenty of companies that also value an MBA done by correspondence as long as you can show the application and improvement in your knowledge and skills.
